Luckily for us, farmers’ markets have been deemed an essential service.  As an added bonus during these hard times; Invermere’s Agri-park market is a part of the BC Farmers’ Market Association, which means they are part of the Farmers Market Nutrition Coupon Program (FMNCP). The FMNCP is a healthy eating initiative designed to strengthen food security and support local farmers across British Columbia. The Columbia Valley Food Bank is the Valley’s community partner and they provide coupons to lower-income families, pregnant women and seniors who are participants in the food literacy program.  The coupons are accepted by food vendors at the Wednesday night Agri-Park Farmers Market, and can be used to purchase vegetables, fruits, nuts, eggs, dairy, cut herbs, meat and fish. This program will run throughout the summer months from May 20th-September 2nd, 2020, when local food is the most abundant in our area.

The First Agri-Park market of the season was held on Wednesday May 20th, 2020 at the Crossroads. The Agri-Park Farmers’ Market is also operating an online market platform called Localline, which will host a variety of vendors who either cannot make the market or who want to offer their products to a wider audience.  You can find out more information on the Agri-Park Market and Localline at www.wdfi.ca
